Home Invasion Leads to Murder in Mango Creek

Reymundo Reyes

The third murder involved the fatal weekend shooting of an Independence resident following a home invasion on Saturday night.  Police in that southern community are trying to ascertain, if it is drug related.  Forty-eight-year-old Glen Logan was accosted by a pair of armed intruders as he entered his home that evening.  The duo reportedly demanded cash, as well as marijuana from him.  One of the men then escorted his common-law wife into an adjacent bedroom.  Shortly thereafter, she was startled by a single blast.  Upon checking on Logan, the woman discovered that he had been gravely injured and was lying on the ground in a pool of his own blood.  According to Assistant Superintendent Reymundo Reyes, the thieves then made off with an assortment of items, including cash, jewelry and cell phones.

“On Saturday, March 5th, 2016, about 7:50 p.m., Independence police received information that somebody had been shot in the Back Landing Area, Independence Village.  As a result, police visited the residence of Glen Duane Logan, forty-eight-year-old Belizean, self-employed of the said address.  Upon their arrival they saw the motionless body, in fact, his motionless body lying on his right side facing the wall to the store, in a pool of blood inside one of the bedrooms.  Investigation is that sometime around 7:40 p.m. Mr. Logan had just arrived home and upon entering through the main door he was accosted by two males dressed in dark clothing.  And their faces were also covered with cloth and only their eyes were able to be seen.  This is when they demanded, one of them demanded that he handed over money and he asked that the person also hand over weed.  One of them at the time was armed with what appeared to be a pump action shotgun and the other had a machete.  The male person who had the machete then escorted the gentleman’s common-law wife to one of the rooms where she handed over an amount of money which is undisclosed at this time and thereafter, while she was at the room that was when she heard what appeared to be a gunshot.  When she was taken out of the room that was when she realized that Mr. Glen Logan was lying on the floor gasping and groaning and holding the left side of the chest.  The male person then left and they took with them five gold rings, some cash and two cell phones belonging to the family.  At this moment what we are doing is that we are questioning several people.  We are getting information as to people who have threatened the life of Mr. Logan.  So these people are being sought and a few of them have been located and questioned but to no avail up to this moment.  Police investigation still continues.  At this present moment we are still looking for two more persons who we believe are of interest and might assist us in the investigation in regards to the death of Mr. Logan.”

Police have so far been fruitless in their search for the two suspects.
