Christopher Martin is in Belize

Jamaican singer and songwriter Christopher Martin is in the Jewel for a mega concert this weekend in Belize City. The twenty-nine-year-old reggae artist is the internationally featured performer for Flavaz Entertainment’s seventh anniversary concert that takes place this Saturday at the ITVET Compound. Also taking the stage with Martin are Belize’s very own Denise Castillo and Blackberry.  Today, when Martin appeared on Open Your Eyes, he spoke about the process of creating his music. Flavaz Public Relations Director Andazi says that the concert is not only a celebration, but an opportunity for Belizean and Caribbean artists to network.

Andazi, Public Relations Director, Flavaz Entertainment

“This year we are really happy to have Christopher Martin performing for the anniversary show. He’s an artist that’s very passionate about the music that he does; the music is very positive and anybody who’s seen him before knows that his show is just a great show, an experience that you don’t want to miss. And tomorrow night is not going to be any different than that. He’s already told us that he is going to leave his heart on the stage and just give us his all cause he’s very excited about being back in the city. About three or four years ago, we decided that we were going to do international shows as well—not only to move forward and bring additional entertainment to the people, different option, but we also try to make sure that our Belizean artists can meet with the international artists, exchange information, get some advice. And it really gives our artists an opportunity to get in front of that big stage and show what it is that they’ve been doing.”

“From jump street…I never wanted to be hyped up or gassed up, I don’t work with that. And I feel like I know for a fact when something is right. I don’t fool myself. I work with one engineer and I try to work with this one engineer. And he say yes singer, it good and I say no it noh wicked. And I ask, do you have somewhere to go because yo know that noh wicked? Yo know that noh bad. So why yow ah tell me that? And then ih woulda say yo right dah true. And so I feel like I have a base around me where my manager and where my friends are concerned. I feel like they tell me what’s on their mind because they don’t see me as Christopher Martin, the singer; they see me as Chris, their peer, their brother.”
