Director of the Family Court Called to the Bar

Dale Cayetano

Acting Director of the Belize Family Court, fifty-year-old Dale Cayetano, was called to the bar this morning before Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin.  The former magistrate took the oath in the presence of family and friends in the judiciary.  He was appointed magistrate in the Belize City courts in October 2012 where he presided over criminal matters for over three years, before transferring to the family court in April 2015.  Today, during the swearing-in ceremony, Cayetano’s call was supported by the affidavits of senior counsels Andrew Marshalleck and Oswald Twist.  Attorney Fred Lumor also seconded the motion.  The Acting Director holds a bachelors degree in law from UWI Cavehill, Barbados and a certificate of legal education from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica.  His ascent to the bar began several years ago when he joined the Belize judiciary as a first class clerk at the Belize Family Court.
