Gospel Expo 2016 Goes Down in Belmopan

Joel “J Prince” Prince

The annual Belize Gospel Expo takes place this weekend in Belmopan at the May Gordon Park, near the University of Belize. The expo was created to showcase the talents of young Belizean Christian artists, who will join the stage with Gospel singers J.D. and J Prince from Trinidad. Prince touched down in Belize this afternoon and came to News Five’s studio to invite the public to the mega gospel concert on Saturday night.

Joel “J Prince” Prince, Gospel Artist

“It is a privilege; it’s the first time I am in Belize so I am thankful for the opportunity to having me. I have some songs that you guys are going to enjoy, like thunder roll. So we are going to praise the lord on Saturday and it is going to be a nice time man; it’s going to be a nice time.”

Duane Moody

“Talk to us about you as an artist; how long you have been doing this…your calling.”

“I have been doing this from the age of fourteen; I’m twenty-nine now. I was not always into gospel. I was a secular DJ—I used to play in clubs and sound clash and that kind of stuff—and then God called out to me. Long story short, I ended up in a fight at a bar; ended up in the hospital for seven days. And through the seven days, all my gangster brethren, all me killer partners, they weren’t the ones who was coming to check me every day. It was sister this and brother that, but Christian friends. And this really shows me that hey, your place is with God’s people; that’s where the love comes from. And since then, I’ve been doing gospel—producing, singing, DJ-ing, everything all for God.”

The gospel extravaganza starts from ten o’clock on Saturday morning with entertainment for adults and children and then transitions into the concert later in the evening. Entrance is free.
