Corozal driver robbed of $10, 000 cash

And in the north, a driver was robbed of ten thousand dollars when he had concluded deliveries in the city. The incident happened last Thursday at about seven fifty p.m. when twenty five year old Calbert Castillo, a driver for Amelio Ahmad and Son Company Limited on fifth Avenue, Corozal Town parked his truck inside the warehouse parking lot. Interestingly Castillo had on him a black plastic bag containing the ten thousand dollars in cash and a D.H.L. folder with cheques and invoices as he locked the gate. The driver claims that someone knocked him in his back and he fell to the ground. That person then reportedly grabbed the black plastic bag with the cash; jumped on a bicycle and sped off and escaped in the direction of Palma’s Hotel. Though Castillo claims he did not see the culprit’s face, he says the thief was wearing a sleeveless shirt and black short pants. Police are investigating the robbery.
