Minister Zabaneh on Contracts Made Right before Elections

Louis Zabaneh

Fonseca’s Minister of State, Doctor Louis Zabaneh agrees, saying that he has been unable to fully settle in and form his team to execute the vision of the government because of the U.D.P. cronies who have armed themselves with contracts. In an interview conducted on Tuesday, Minister Zabaneh says that a gamut of recently issued contracts is being revised in order for legal and corrective action to be taken.

“Unfortunately it is. We are examining numerous contracts that were made right before elections, but for persons and for example bus contracts, bus runs, thing with regards to food programs for schools. A gamut of things. So we are really examining all of those as we speak to get a handle of them certainly to make corrective actions as we go.”

“What about key persons or key posts within the ministry. For example the Chief Education Officer, Doctor Babb. Will she be replaced? Did she receive a recently issued contract?”

Dr. Louis Zabaneh

“Doctor Babb continues with us. We have not made a determination on that as yet. We are looking at this holistically and certainly persons who knew they were politically appointed for example the Chief Education Officer, she did the right thing. We’ve hope that more people would be professional at that level whoever they know that they came in as a political appointee and now we have a new government with a new vision, new policies and therefore the right thing to do is step aside to give the government the opportunity to choose its team of people who would carry forward its policies, fully motivate and the  conviction that is required of us to have great success.”
