Dangriga Mayor Joins Police in Meet & Greet

On Wednesday, we brought you the story of a meet and greet session in Belize City with the top brass of the Eastern Division and church leaders about their respective roles in intervention of criminal activities across the city. Simultaneously in Dangriga, the police command there was joined by Mayor Robert Mariano, a former Deputy Commissioner of Police, as they went door-to-door meeting with residents. The aim was to hear concerns and seek solutions.

“We need to know what is happening in the different areas of Dangriga. This is the first of its kind, but it is not the last. This will continue until we reach every area within Dangriga town. We selected New Site Three because we opened some new roads in that area because before the people that live in that area used to traverse to the Stann Creek Valley Road via picado. We were asking people what is their take on the new roads that were put in that area and of the crime situation in that area, And I am pleased to say that the people that live in that area have mentioned that they are satisfied with the police performance in that area and they are not concerned of anything which is criminal in that area. This shows that the neighbourhood watch group that is in that area is very active and they are doing their work.”
