Accused murderer handed over by Mexican authorities

Story PictureAnd Carlos Keme is back on Belizean soil and in the custody of Orange Walk police. He was caught by Mexican authorities at the bordering community of Subteniente Lopez and held for the murder of Karina Daniels, who was found dead by primary school students in the center of town last Friday. Keme allegedly told the Mexican authorities that he killed Daniels because he found her in bed with two men. We spoke to Inspector Selvin Tillett, Second in Charge at the Orange Walk police station, and he says the transfer finally took place on Wednesday night, four days after he detained in Mexico.

Insp. Selvin Tillett, 2nd O.C., Orange Walk Police

“What kind of charges will he be facing?”

Insp. Selvin Tillett

“There were reports that Mr. Keme confessed to the crime to the Mexican authorities. Has he told you all anything like that?”

Insp. Selvin Tillett
“What he told the Mexican authorities has no weight here in Belize but as far as I know, based on what he told us and the evidence we have gathered so far, we decided that we have enough to charge him for Murder for the crime against the young lady noh.”

Meanwhile, no one has yet been charged for the murder of another Corozal resident and teacher, Javier Castillo, who was killed at his home over the weekend.
