Man arrested for shooting of primary school students
In last Tuesday’s newscast, we reported of an adult and two primary school students who were injured in a shooting spree in the Saint Martin De Porres Area. Well today, almost a week after the shooting, one man has been identified as the gunman. Twenty-two year old Ervin James was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he was slapped with nine charges including three counts of attempted murder upon Brandon Smith, Rosalind Ranguay and Alex Estell. In addition to the three counts of attempted murder, the resident of Mayflower Street was additionally slapped with use of deadly means of harm, dangerous harm and wounding. James was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until November third. Smith was at a Chinese Shop located on Mahogany Street, when two male persons rode by and opened fire on Smith. The bullets also caught two primary school students in the area. The motive of the shooting is believed to be gang related.
