John Baptist fined 11 grand for indecent assault

John Baptist

Thirty-eight year old John Baptist Senior of Belize City was tried last week for having sex with a six-year-old child back in 2003 and of sexually molesting her on three other occasions.  At the conclusion of the trial, a jury of nine found Baptist guilty of two counts of aggravated assault of an indecent nature but not of carnal knowledge.  Today, he went back to court for sentencing and instead of jail time; he was fined for the two offenses.  Before Justice Troadio Gonzalez this morning, Baptist who had been remanded to the Belize Central Prison since his conviction was imposed fines totaling eleven thousand dollars which has to be paid in installments between May thirty-first this year and January 2014. The judge informed him that if the first payment is not paid, the entire sum of the fines must be paid forthwith or he must serve time behind bars. In mitigation, Baptist told the court that he has a common-law-wife and sick mother to care for. He begged the court for leniency saying he earns four hundred and eight dollars for the week and that he would pay his fines if he was spared jail time. The judge was stern with Baptist pointing out that he showed no remorse for the child whose life had been wrecked. The victim is now fifteen years old and she testified during the trial.

    He needs to be hung

  2. Storm says:

How much more harm would the pervert need to cause to spend even one night in jail?

I’m very offended by the leniency. Now he is free to rape another child in his community — the neighboring parents need to make sure he never does that.

If I were his judge, he would be castrated first, and then locked in prison and forgotten there.

This nasty @$$ is still alive. What the heck. And he is still out doing his !@#$. Holy crap Belize, if a guy get caught with one stick of weed or a woman defend her life and lots more stuff they go to jail. And this guy is still alive. I want him to make the mistake and touch the wrong child and see if he lives another day. Nasty @$$ nothing. Burn him alive that’s what I feel. Have no heart when hurting those helpless child. Burn him

  4. Bear says:

If he did that to my child, he would be dead already.

  5. Bobby B says:

That decision by the judge seems unfair, but I’m sure the criminal will not be able to pay his fine and still end up in jail.

  6. BMNJ says:

The same way how the churches in Belize are standing up against the gay issues, they should stand up against those sex offenders who are taking advantage of underage girls. Cut off their private part will cut off their perverted desire.

  7. John Doe says:

    Well said BMNJ.

@Bear. I also say the same. He coulda well gone cross di border and get himself lotta sex for $11,000. Hope he can’t pay the fine and goes to Hattieville Ramada and gets a TREAT. He can join UNIBAM then.
