Late night swim is fatal for Lord’s Bank boy

A Belize District student is dead tonight after a late night swim went terribly wrong. According to police, around ten-thirty on Saturday night, sixteen year old Richard James Casimiro, a student of Ladyville Technical High School was at a party in Lord’s Bank when he and three other friends decided to go swimming. We understand that there is an area which was used to collect landfill nearby and that water had accumulated in the deep pit. Whether Casimiro hit something beneath the surface or suffered a cramp is still under investigation tonight, but soon after jumping into the pit, he disappeared. His frantic friends called the cops for help, but around eight on Sunday morning search and rescuers pulled Casimiro’s lifeless body from the water.
