Rape charges reinstated against Belize City man
A charge of rape dismissed against a Belize City man earlier this week has been reinstated. According to court reports, forty-four year old Lindon Jeffrey appeared in court on Monday to answer to charges of rape and aggravated assault in connection with an incident in July 2004. But the matter was struck out entirely as per the instructions of a memo sent to the courts by the Director of Public Prosecutions. However, it turns out Jeffrey’s freedom was short-lived as on Thursday he was picked up again and once more charged with rape and aggravated assault. He was granted and met bail of five thousand dollars and ordered to reappear on February twentieth. The case against Jeffrey was initiated after a woman reported to police that he held her at machete point and had sex with her against her will.
