Fisherman found guilty of robbing, grievous harm
A twenty-five year old Belize City fisherman has been convicted of robbery and grievous harm. Eric Martinez was found guilty this evening by Magistrate Margaret McKenzie and will be sentenced on January twenty-fifth following some clarification of his identity. On May tenth of last year Martinez accosted Daniel Brooks as he left a food stand on Freetown Road and hit him on the head before breaking his jaw on both sides. Martinez then took fifty dollars, a lighter, and a pack of cigarettes from his victim and rode off on Brook’s bicycle. When a cousin of Brooks saw Martinez on the bike he reported it to police and Martinez was picked up.
