Charges withdrawn against defendant in murder attempt
This afternoon charges were dropped against a man arrested in connection with an attack against a well-known businessman. Twenty-seven year old Giovanni Lauriano appeared today before Magistrate Sharon Fraser where two counts of attempted murder, one count of conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and one count of aggravated burglary were all withdrawn against him. Other lesser charges including damage to property, grievous harm, and use of deadly means of harm still stand. Lauriano was granted and met bail in the sum of four thousand dollars. He was charged along with Kenrick Reneau and Aniver Palacio following police investigations into an incident on December sixth at the Burrell Boom home of Sarkis Abou-Nehra. Abou-Nehra reported that around one-thirty that morning he was in his bedroom when someone knocked on the door identifying himself as a police officer. A shootout ensued between the victim and his attackers in which Abou-Nehra was slightly injured. Palacio and Reneau remain in Hattieville Prison charged with attempted murder.
