Killer cops a plea; gets 15 years in prison…

It was a killing of remarkable savagery, but instead of dangling at the end of a rope, the man who strangled his girlfriend to death will spend the next fifteen years in jail. Eliezer Dominguez was sentenced today after copping a plea in the court of Justice Michelle Arana under which he pled guilty to the crime of manslaughter instead of facing a jury trial for the murder of eighteen year old Heidi Itza. The mitigating factor seemed to be the killer’s remorse and the overriding influence of alcohol. “I feel bad about…what I have done,” said Dominguez in a statement to police. “I lost my girlfriend for (the) stupidness of drinking.” Itza was killed in a Benque Viejo hotel room on the night of February second, 2004 after a night of partying with Dominguez. The couple apparently quarrelled and Dominguez grabbed her around the neck, choking her to death.
