Knox Cumberbatch charged with Murder
After days of intense investigations into the broad daylight murder of twenty one year old entrepreneur, Clifton Michael, police have one man in custody for that homicide. Today twenty-five year old city resident, Knox Cumberbatch, a resident of Dolphin Street was charged with Michael’s murder. And police believe it was the result of gang rivalry. The shooting took place last Thursday before noon, in the area of the Stanford Bridge near the Yarborough area. Michael was walking on West Collect Canal between Mex and Kut Avenues when two men approached him and opened fire. He was shot on the back and chest. On Friday, July twenty-fourth, a post mortem conducted on the body certified that Michael died from internal bleeding. Cumberbatch who was arrested over the weekend appeared before Senior Magistrate, Dorothy Flowers, today and was read a single charge of murder. Bail was denied and he was remanded to custody at the Hattieville Prison until August twenty fifth. The accused has another case before the courts for the attempted murder of his friend Elroy Saldano, that occurred on March sixteenth, of this year. According to Saldano he was shot on East Canal by two men, one who he identified as the accused.
