Rhaburn Arraigned for Murder of ‘Spam’

On June twenty-eight, Michael ‘Spam’ Ysaguirre succumbed to injuries he reportedly received following an altercation near the Conch Shell Bay Fish Market.  While it was initially ruled as a sudden death, his family, including younger sibling and former Belize City Mayor Zenaida Moya, maintained that Spam had been murdered.  In an interview with News Five last week, Moya said that the results of a post mortem examination revealed that Ysaguirre, a well-known fisherman, died of injuries caused by blunt trauma to the chest. Today in court,  forty-one-year-old James Edward Rhaburn appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano where he was read a single charge of murder.  Rhaburn, also a fisherman of the Conch Shell Bay area, is accused of hitting Ysaguirre repeatedly in the torso with what is believed to be a fiberglass rod.  In the presence of attorney Richard ‘Dickie’ Bradley, it was explained to Rhaburn that no plea would be taken from him since murder is an indictable offense which will be dealt with at the Supreme Court.  For context, we will revisit an interview conducted with Zenaida Moya following the death of Spam Ysaguirre. Edward Rhaburn is scheduled to return to court on September fifteenth.
