Police spread Christmas cheer to elderly and kids

Story PictureEvery year around this time police officers from across the country reach out to the community to spend some quality time with those they serve and protect. This week the police high command visited several homes for the elderly, treating residents to karaoke entertainment, food, and gifts. On Wednesday, the tour took Police Commissioner Gerald Westby and Assistant Commissioner of Police Crispin Jeffries to the Golden Haven Home in Hattieville Village. Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid says the programme started last week when they hosted a party for some three hundred children at the Queen Street compound.

?The went to the Sister Cecilia Home, they went to the Youth Hostel at mile twenty-one and at Haven Home in Hattieville. The folks were quite happy, as a matter of fact the lady up at mile twenty-one was saying that usually when they see the police coming it?s like, oh God, not another person coming for us. And they?re saying that now it?s good to see this side of the police where they come in, interact with the persons there and just share the season.?

On Friday, Zone Beat Liaison Officers will be in the Port Loyola area giving out gifts to children.
