Kids mob Santa at Continental?s Christmas party

Story PictureThis afternoon, a special visitor arrived at the Belize City House of Culture. No, it wasn’t some foreign head of state or a Hollywood celebrity; it was someone much more important. Yes, that’s right, the man of the month, Santa Claus made a personal appearance at Continental’s annual Christmas Party. And as you will see, he got a lot of love and some lucky kids got some pretty cool bicycles.

Kim Aikman, Country Manager, Continental
?It started out with our regional director, he had a bicycle given to him as a child in Guatemala and he remembers the feeling and he asked us if we would want to do it and it was born there and we?ve kept it up ever since.?

Karla Heusner
?How do you select the children??

Kim Aikman
?First of all there are seventy-five children here from fifteen schools and we depend a lot on the teachers. They know the children in need and they select them and send them to us. They are from infant two, age six to eight.?

Karla Heusner
?What do you provide at the party??

Kim Aikman
?Snacks. Like today, we had pizza, nachos, sandwiches. We also give each child a gift to take home and there is the chance of the four bicycles that we have here this year… that?s the highlight.?

Karla Heusner
?What does you staff get or how do they feel when doing this??

Kim Aikman
?it?s a rewarding experience for all of us, just what you see here, just the look in their eyes makes us feel good to give something back to the community that has served us well over the past sixteen years.?

The winners of the bucket toss who scored the four bikes are Chelsea Velasquez of Holy Redeemer School, Akeesha Lucas and Melhem Gonzalez of Salvation Army School, and Trey Malic Moody of Grace Primary.
