Belize City businessman fined for pulling gun on customer
A Belize City businessman has been arrested, charged, and fined for threatening a customer with a loaded gun. According to court reports, thirty-two year old Zhu Yin Ruan pleaded guilty this morning to taking out his licensed nine millimetre handgun and pointing it at his customer Tiffany Westby. Apparently, on Monday afternoon, Westby was trying to pay her bill at Zhu’s shop, Jusco Plaza on Freetown Road with a bank card but the machine was giving problems. An argument then ensued between the cashier and Westby. Hearing the commotion, the cashier’s husband, Zhu, ended the fight when he started to choke Westby. Westby maintains that Zhu then pulled out the gun and as he was pointing it at her, told her he would kill her. Someone in the store called police and when they arrived, Zhu was arrested for aggravated assault. He appeared before Magistrate Sharon Frazer this morning where he was fined three hundred and fifty dollars, which he has to pay by January thirty-first or in default spend three months in jail. We understand that the weapon Zhu pulled on Tiffany Westby was loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.
