Francis Fonseca Goes In on Sedi Elrington Following Anti-U.S. Remarks

And while Fonseca plans to take decisive action where Saldivar is concerned, he is also demanding that Prime Minister Dean Barrow do the same for Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilfred Elrington. Elrington’s brother Errol is a fugitive from justice, wanted in the US on racketeering and medical fraud charges. Errol is in Belize and incredibly, Elrington has stated on the record that he supports the actions of his brother, and would have done the same thing. Even more incredibly, the Foreign Minister has lashed out at the US for targeting his brother. Today, Fonseca told News Five that in almost any other country, Elrington would have been asked to leave office.

Francis Fonseca, P.U.P. Leader

Francis Fonseca

“As some people have described it…Sedi gawn mad…Sedi has gone mad. We really have to sit back and reflect on what the Foreign Minister of Belize, the Attorney General of Belize is saying. When he speaks he obviously speaks on behalf of our country, on behalf of the government. Launching this tirade, this attack on the United States government…one of Belize’s best friends, one of Belize greatest allies, a strong supporter of Belize is absolutely, absolutely disgraceful. And to say that he advised his brother…there are allegations against his brother but it is a fact that the Office of the Inspector-General in the United States has declared his brother a fugitive, a wanted fugitive from justice, and for Foreign Minister Elrington to say that he in fact would have done the same thing, that he in fact advised his brother to flee the jurisdiction is absolutely disgraceful and difficult to understand. His remarks about the US judicial system…he went on and on about all sorts of irrelevant circumstances involving the United States government…but the truth is that in any other country with a few exception had the foreign minister made such outlandish statements attacking the United States government and challenging the integrity of the judicial system and saying that he in fact was supportive of the decision of his brother to flee the United States and to come to Belize…in any other circumstances this man would be forced to resign, to demit office immediately.”

Credible sources have confirmed that in the wake of Elrington’s comments, the U.S. has raised concerns to the ministry.

Frances it’s about time you wake up and start slamming this corrupt gov. You need to start showing more grit and tell this gov. And the belizean public the facts about this corrupt pm and gov. This is a start but you need to start doing much more you need to announce that you will bring back the hanging penalty to stop crime come on man start leading.

  2. Ali BaBarrow & 40 say screw the US says:

UDP got it were it should be, screw the US.

So what if 120,000 Belizeans live there?
The US embassy is clueless, don’t even know what country they are in.
Do they even have an ambassador in Belize, or just some suit teleconferencing in once in a while to this backwater assignment.

Their silence and support of Ali Baba says it it all.
They are asking too much looking a 40’s brother.
So what the dude stole a million from the US govt, he should get an award from the PM and get an official position in the forty, maybe fill penner’s old position. He has balls, not like penner.

Sorry to say, but the Elringtons are doing a great job garnering a reputation of being unethical, dishonest and of questionable integrity . I get it, family bond is a strong thing, and even if our Foreign Minister felt that his brother was justified in fleeing the US, a an in his position should never have verbalized that. Such arrogance to feel that his brother, the good doctor, should not even have to answer to the allegations against him. Evasion of justice is guaranteed to them only in Belize. Over 5 years ago, Hubert, the other bother took money for a case from me and every time I call him, I have to refresh his memory. Since he admittedly did nothing on the case, he promised to return the money….Coincidentally, he stopped answering e-mail, calls and at one point he even screamed and hung up the phone on…..THIEF!!!!

Down right disgraceful! We are now actively harboring fugitives at the highest level. How low can we go? I now have absolutely no respect for GOB.

  5. Uncle Benji says:

Francis you are wrong again. Man, I am a staunch PUP, but darn your leadership is frustrating. Said Musa, we have to replace Francis. I will help raise the $$$ to do so.

Sedi was right in saying what he said about the USA. It is a corrupted government that does not play a fair game in absolutely everything.

Man, this is sickening to see our PUP leader walking on eggshells. Let’s chastise Sedi because our American friends will be upset. Let’s congratulate thiefing Barrow for a job well done with the City Council.

Where are the Said Musa supporters that can make a difference? Wah, Mahler, Busch, latchman, Smith, Tench, Ushers, Balderamos, Shoman, Hyde, let’s meet and strategize to raise campaign funds for Said Musa. We need leadership. Drop Uncle Benji a line at 123gotcha@outlook.com We can all meet at Independence Hall one evening. Save our party.

  6. Me says:

@Uncle Benji, We as Belizeans need to STOP putting extreme emphasis on PARTY. This “Party” frame of mine has compromised our ability to make decisions that will be better for our country. The UDP only care about the UDP and the PUP only care about PUP. We need not save any party, We need to save our COUNTRY! When people are being shot, killed and invaded in their homes and the police department are saying “It is not as bad as is it seems”, that’s a clear red flag about the direction we are taking as a country. We had a budget debate earlier this year and the ministers taking shots at each other talking about “find my device” while there was nothing in the budget that takes crime seriously!

  7. lisa says:

  8. bmp99 says:
