Cayo cop charged for unlicensed gun/ammo

A police officer from the Cayo District has been arrested and charged after a search of his home turned up an unlicensed weapon and ammunition. According to official reports, around five this morning San Ignacio cops responded to a domestic dispute at the home of P.C. Oscar Quiroz. When they arrived, Quiroz’s wife Janeen, told authorities that her husband had assaulted her and threatened her by holding up two bullets. Upon inspection of the premises, officers found a twenty-two Dellinger pistol and bullets. Quiroz has since been interdicted from duty and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Police say Janeen Quiroz has declined to press charges against her husband.
