Guatemalan Minors Caught in Caracol…

A pair of minors, ages fifteen and seventeen, both Guatemalan nationals, has been charged with kept firearm and ammunition without a gun license after being nabbed near the Caracol Archaeological Reserve.  The teenagers, along with two others, were discovered inside Belizean territory by a patrol consisting of police and B.D.F. personnel, as well as a ranger attached to Friends of Conservation and Development.  The group was seated around a fire when the patrol approached.  While two of them were able to flee the area, the remaining duo was detained and a search of the area yielded a point twenty-two rifle loaded with a magazine containing thirteen live rounds of matching ammunition. Further checks also led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing forty, live point twenty-two rounds.  The teenagers of Nuevo Nacimiento in Peten, Guatemala were escorted to the San Ignacio Police Station where they were jointly charged for the offense of Kept Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition without a Gun License.
