Catholics hold novena for hurricane-free year
Two days after the hurricane season officially closed, weather experts christened Hurricane Epsilon in the Atlantic Ocean. And with surface temperatures still above normal, tonight the weather is anything but predictable. That’s why the Catholic diocese is calling on Christians everywhere to join in prayer in thanksgiving that Belize was once again spared Mother Nature’s wrath. At St. Ignatius church this week, parishioners are gathering for a special devotion to Belize’s patron saint.
Fr. Noel Leslie, Parish Priest, St. Ignatius
?We honour Our Lady in a very special way, we ask her to interceded for us, to ask Our Heavenly Father to protect our country from the hurricanes and other natural disasters and other things. And we have been blessed this year in a very special way, as everybody know, so we come together to give thinks to our mighty God, we come to give thanks to Our Lady for the special protection that was offered to our country, Belize. And we pray that our people will come closer to our mighty God through these very special devotions, through these very special prayers, which we offer in honour of our blessed Mother, asking her to seek the blessing of her son on us.?
?At seven o?clock each evening we have these very special prayers and anybody can come and participate in them and of course we?d like them to come to the very special Feast Day Mass, which we celebrate at seven p.m. on December the tenth, right here at St. Ignatius.?
