Ladyville man accused of stealing jewellery/toilet paper

A suspected burglar was formally arraigned in court today in connection with a home break-in on Woodpecker Street in Ladyville. According to court reports, thirty-eight year old Dennis Quilter pleaded not guilty to the charge of burglary and was granted bail in the sum of six thousand dollars or two sureties of three thousand dollars each. Quilter was arrested after another Ladyville resident, Sheila Gill, reported that between November twenty-sixth and twenty-eighth, someone broke into her house and stole jewellery, a Discman, a hammer and drill set, and a four roll pack of toilet paper, all estimated to be worth more than four thousand five hundred dollars. During police probes into the incident, witnesses reported seeing Quilter selling the same types of items in the area. Tonight we understand that authorities are also investigating whether the accused is involved in a number of other incidents in the Ladyville and Vista del Mar communities. Quilter was represented in court by attorney B.Q. Pitts.
