Two men charged for stealing boy’s bike
Two Belize City men appeared in Magistrate’s Court this morning after being arrested and charged for stealing a child’s bicycle. Twelve year old Neville Armstrong reported to police that on Wednesday, while doing an errand for his mother, he was stopped by two men at the corner of Pen Road and Raccoon Street Extension. The boy said that the men told him that they would beat him up if he didn’t give them his bike. Armstrong complied, but as the child was on his way to report the incident, he saw the two perpetrators once more and within the hour, both men were arrested. When brought to court, twenty year old James Elijio of Flamboyant Street pleaded guilty to the robbery charge and Magistrate Sharon Fraser immediately sentenced him to five years in prison. His alleged accomplice, nineteen year old Leroy Gomez, entered a plea of not guilty and the matter was adjourned until January third, 2006.
