Zetina: Passport investigation stumped by crank calls

Story PictureIn August, it was the last thing the Immigration Department needed…a robbery within the very confines of it offices. Authorities would later discover some two hundred passports missing. In the aftermath of the incident, the investigation led police to search the homes of ranking members of the department, but tonight, almost three months after the documents went missing, police are no closer to finding them. And according to Director of the Immigration Department Carmen Zetina, instead of phoning in usable information, the public has been making plenty of crank calls.

Carmen Zetina, Director, Immigration Department
?The police are investigating, but I haven?t heard any new, or I haven?t gotten any new information in respect to the disappearance of these passports. People keep coming in with information and we are following it up but at times, the things that they are telling you, I don?t think there?s any truth in it.?

?Is this case still a priority though or has it taken a back bench?

Carmen Zetina
?Well it has to be a priority, police have other things to do, but I personally am personally involved in it.

Janelle Chanona
?So where do we go from here, are you waiting for a lead to turn you on, are we still going house to house searching for these documents. What?s being done technically now??

Carmen Zetina
?Well we are just looking to get information and work on it, you have feelers out there to find out exactly what happened with the passport, as I said information keeps coming, but I don?t think there?s no truth to it.?
