Arson suspect out on bail for stolen goods
Meanwhile, Ladyville police have arrested and charged a young woman after they found her neighbour?s stolen property in her living room. Twenty-one year old Elena Kerr appeared in Magistrate’s Court today where she was formally charged for handling stolen goods. Kerr has pleaded not guilty to the offence and was granted bail in the sum of two thousand, five hundred dollars. Tonight we understand that the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions will make a decision later this week on whether or not to charge Kerr with burglary and arson. Kerr is accused of having in her possession a chest of drawers, a clothes basket filled with dirty clothes, fourteen DVD’s, tables, a microwave, a king-sized mattress, plates and several other items, all belonging to her next door neighbours, Judith Jones and Emerson Cruz. On Friday, the couple returned home at number three-twenty-three Maxboro to find their house on fire. After the flames were put out by police and other neighbours, they realised that they had also been robbed.
