Hummingbird Highway accident leaves one dead
In the west, a traffic accident on the Hummingbird Highway has claimed the life of a Belmopan resident. According to police reports, around eight on Saturday morning, twenty-eight year old Manuel de Jesus Garcia was riding his bicycle between miles fifty-four and fifty-five when he was struck from behind by a car travelling in the same direction. The driver of the vehicle, thirty year old Cruz Seren of San Martin Village, has told police that the bicyclist swerved suddenly in front of her and there was no way to avoid a collision. Garcia was rushed to the Western Regional Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Up to news time tonight, no charges had been filed against Seren.
