Brandon Tillett and Kareem Lopez Before the Courts Again
Brandon Tillett, aka B.E.T., the George Street Associate and gang member, returned to court this morning. Tillett is the son of fifty-six year old Cyril McFoy who was gunned down at the corner of Euphrates and Dean Streets and whose murder is believed to have sparked the violence in which two other men were killed. Following the homicides, last Friday in a police crackdown, Tillett was escorted to court, but no charges were levied on him. This morning, he was charged jointly with two other George Street associates, identified as Kareem Lopez, aka Robbery, and Shane Harris. They were jointly charged with possession of a controlled drug, that being cannabis. Tillett was also charged with one count of associating with a criminal gang in respect of the George Street Gang.
In court, Tillett and Harris both pleaded not guilty. Lopez was not present for the arraignment since last Friday he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison of a charge of causing public terror on Douglas Jones Street for an incident which occurred on the morning of the J’ouvert celebration. In court today, Brandon and Harris were arraigned and granted bail. Both, however, must report to the police station as a condition of their bail. According to police reports, last Friday they intercepted a vehicle on Coney Drive in Belize City in which Tillett, Lopez and Harris were travelling. A small amount of weed was found inside the vehicle for which they appeared in court today.
