Man Crushed by Flatbed During Orange Walk Carnival

The Carnival Road March in Orange Walk on Sunday was attended by persons from across the country, but the event was not without incident. Around five p.m., a Belize City youth was stabbed to the neck following an altercation with another person as the revelers made their way through the principal street of the town. While that individual has been treated and released from the Northern Regional Hospital, as the parade was coming to an end, an Orange Walk resident of Otro Benque Road was killed when the rear wheel of a flatbed truck crushed him on Dunn Street. Fifty-four year old Santos Uh died on the spot. Police Press Officer, Raphael Martinez says that it is believed that Uh was intoxicated when the incident occurred.

Raphael Martinez, Police Press Officer

“I can tell you that there was a fatality during the Carnival in Orange Walk unfortunately and I was reliably told that this was alcohol induced where a fifty-four year old man by the name of Santos Uh of Otro Benque address in Orange Walk. Apparently he was just beside one of the floats, a ten wheeler, where he tumbled and fell under one of the back wheels and he was fatally injured.”

“Now we understand that the driver of the truck has been detained and is to be charged. Could you talk to us about that?”

Raphael Martinez

“The driver of the vehicle was served with a notice of intended prosecution and was indeed detained. But whether or not he will be charged is yet to be seen.”

Clearly the victim’s fault but the police in their regular stupidity just wants someone to beat at the station

If this is example of law I can’t imagine anyone to participate with vehicle or trailer again!!!
