…while washing machine thief gets three years
And if you thought that was embarrassing, within hours, a man attempting to walk off with nothing less than a washing machine was busted by some very unhappy homeowners. According to police reports, around two-thirty on Sunday morning, Sharon Cardinez of Sarstoon Street awoke to strange sounds coming from the area near her back door. Imagine her shock when she realized that someone was trying to steal her washing machine. Cardinez is said to have yelled at the man and her screams woke up her brother Mark and according to court reports, together they ambushed the wanna-be jacker and issued him a sound beating, subduing the trespasser until the cops showed up. The culprit was later identified as forty-four year old William McCullock, of a Vernon Street address. In the court of Magistrate Margaret Gabb McKenzie this morning, McCullock pleaded guilty to the charge of attempted theft and was sentenced to three years in jail.
