Suspect detained in San Narciso shooting

Tonight police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred over the weekend in the Corozal District. Around six on Sunday morning, authorities say they found Feliciano Novelo at the Northern Regional hospital with a gunshot wound to his back. According to Novelo, sometime earlier he was at a dance in San Narciso Village when he was shot by someone from behind. Despite his injuries, Novelo says he drove himself to the hospital and has provided police with a description of his attacker. The victim has since been transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City where he remains in serious but stable condition. Since the incident, police have detained one suspect for questioning. Tonight News Five understands that investigating officers are keen to get a statement from Novelo regarding the series of events on Saturday night as when police searched his car, inside they found one expended nine millimetre shell and three live rounds, but no firearm.
