Actyl Wins Case Involving Employment of Belizeans

A ruling in the Canadian courts will ensure that four Belizeans retain their jobs with McDonald’s Canada. The four Belizeans were recruited to work in the fast food franchise by the firm Actyl Group. The company subsequently took the Canadian government to court for refusing work permits to the Belizeans. In a recent ruling on the matter, Justice Russell found that the process used by Actyl in recruiting skilled workers was sound and further that employers were satisfied with the calibre of candidates proposed to them. The judge ruled that it was unreasonable for the government, through is Embassy, to refuse work permits. But despite the decision, according to a report from Canada, it is not clear if the four will continue to be employed with McDonalds even though their hiring had been approved and they had paid processing fees and were ready to travel to Canada.
