Robber used fake gun ? got $17 and prison term

A man who held up a young woman with a toy gun fared no better in Magistrate’s Court. Lincoln Ellis appeared before Magistrate Margaret McKenzie on Thursday and was sentenced to five years in prison. The case dates back to a report made in April by Alicia Lamb who says Ellis approached her on Mahogany Street in Belize City and put a gun to her temple. He then told her, “gimme what you got” and she proceeded to hand him the food and drink she was carrying. But a struggle ensued when Ellis grabbed her by the back of the head and tried to drag her to a taxi stand. Lamb gave him seventeen dollars but he still continued to attack her. Fortunately, a police patrol arrived on the scene and Ellis was arrested. It was then discovered the gun he used was fake.
