Youth convicted of murdering elderly vendor
A jury has convicted a twenty-one year old man from Corozal of murdering a seventy-six year old orange vendor. The twelve member jury deliberated for four hours and found Harvey Lee Henderson guilty of killing Alfonso Santos on January eleventh, 2004. During the trial witnesses testified that Henderson, who appeared intoxicated, walked up to Santos on Curassow Street in Corozal Town and chopped him in the forehead, back of the head, and other parts of his body then searched his pockets and put something he found into his own pocket before making off. Henderson, who was defended by attorney Simeon Sampson, will be sentenced tomorrow. The case was prosecuted by attorney Audrey Matura. It was her first murder trial. Presiding over the case was Justice Adolph Lucas.
