Gregory Goodfellow Executed On Boom/Hattieville Road Overnight

Just before nine Wednesday night, the body of twenty-two year old Gregory Goodfellow was discovered on the side of the Boom/Hattieville Road. The Ladyville youth was lying in a pool of blood. He had been shot multiple times, allegedly to the body and head. Police immediately cordoned off a two mile stretch of road as they processed the scene. At eleven fifteen the body was taken to the K.H.M.H. morgue and now Ladyville Police have been tasked with their second murder investigation in only five days. At around midday today, Rural Executive Officer, Inspector Frederick Gordon, called a briefing to offer some details in what is still only a very preliminary investigation. This blood stain on the side of the road, and the trampled grass around it, are the only signs that at around eight-twenty Wednesday night, a life was extinguished there. Residents report that at around eight-twenty they heard at least six shots fired in rapid succession. A check was made in the area and the body was seen on the side of the road. That’s when the call went out to Police at just before nine.

“The Burrell Boom Police received reports of a person on the side of the road who appeared to be dead. The Police responded to the area where we found a male person lying down on the right hand side of the road about a half mile from the Burrell Boom Bridge. The male person appears to be a very young person and the person had multiple gunshot wounds to the body, the hand and the head.”

At least one expended nine millimetre shell was found next to the body. After processing the scene, Police suspect that Gregory Goodfellow was driven here to this spot by persons he knew. And then he was executed. His mother, Jacqueline Williams, got the news at around midnight. At first she didn’t believe it, but this morning she had the terrible task of identifying his body.

“Da definitely mi son that inna dat cold storage, definitely him, and I couldn’t believe that somebody outside could do something like that to him. And like what I said, I don’t know why they did that to him, and they know he had a family to take care of.”

The Police have confirmed that Goodfellow didn’t always live up to his name, and they knew him well. While his mother can’t accept that somebody would murder her son in that way, she also knows he wasn’t a saint. We asked if she thought his murder might be the result of an old beef, or repercussions from something he did to somebody. It was a question she couldn’t easily answer.

And when he deh pon di street I can’t say weh he do and weh he noh do so I can’t fight fu seh dat. I can’t answer that.”

The last family member to see Goodfellow alive was his aunt, Mabel Vaccarro. She spoke to him at around four that evening.

“I da di last person talk to ah…because even when he talk to me he seh Aunty I just come from court. I seh court again. Like dat I tell ah. He seh yes Aunty but dis da di last court I gwein he seh cause afta dis I noh gwein da nomo court. He seh I wah win di case and I no gwein da nomo court. And indeed da di last court he gawn cause they finish ah.”

We are told that Goodfellow was hanging out at this Chinese shop at around seven that night, when he was picked up and carried to the spot where death awaited him. Mike Rudon for News Five.
