Four cops convicted of theft of city grocer
The incident occurred over three years ago, but today four law enforcement officers were finally held accountable for their crimes. Police Officer Vladimir Ortega and Special Constables Jesus Dominguez, Filomeno Badillo, and Cornelio Andueza were found guilty of theft and were fined five hundred dollars each by Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord. Whoever cannot pay by the end of November will spend six months in jail. The quartet were acquitted of the more serious charge of robbery. On the night of March fifth, 2002, the four men, who had been drinking earlier that evening, entered the shop of Dennis Chow and after a good bit of commotion and confusion, left with a hundred dollars of Chow’s money.
