Two arrested trying to smuggle weed into prison
Small marijuana busts are hardly big news in Belize, but you’ve got to wonder about the two guys caught Tuesday at Hattieville Prison. Thirty year old Dorian Michael and thirty-two year old Max Williams were arraigned today for drug trafficking after they allegedly tried to smuggle around four ounces of the herb into the facility Tuesday. According to court records, Michael came to visit one Lionel White, a prisoner on remand, and brought a carton box containing groceries. When the box was searched–a routine procedure–among the tinned milk and potted meat were four clear plastic bags of cannabis. Williams, who was waiting outside for Michael, was also detained. Both men have pleaded not guilty and were granted bail of five thousand dollars.
