Court Hears Bail Applications

As many as fifteen bail applications were lodged before the Supreme Court today and a number of persons were successful in being granted bail by Judge Herbert Lord. Included are two police officers who were accused of an armed robbery in the city in late September, but arraigned and remanded in early October. Both were offered bail in the sum of ten thousand dollars each.  They are police officers Eber Depaz and Jefferson Dawson, who were attached to the Raccoon Street Police Station. The duo was arraigned on October third, before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith for Robbery and Wounding of Tremaine Ciego, while Dawson was additionally charged with Threatening Words upon Ciego. But the judge also imposed conditions ordering them to report to the police station twice a week.

Jefferson Dawson

Jasmine Street residents, Edwin Flowers, aka “Drive”, and Albert Clother received bail of two thousand dollars each. Both men were charged jointly with the offense of Professed to be a Member of a Gang, being the PIV. They were both arraigned on October sixth and remanded until December eighth. Flowers and Clother must also report to the police station every Friday. Judge Lord made it clear that if the accused commit another offense and are arrested and charged while on bail, they must be brought before a judge immediately. In the bail application, Flowers and Clother were represented by attorney Audrey Matura-Shepherd.
