Two guns used in alleged murder/suicide
Tonight there are far more questions than answers surrounding the death of fifty-two year old Juan Dorado. Police strongly suspect Dorado killed his girlfriend, thirty-two year old Delia Cruz on October tenth, but what happened next is what authorities are trying to determine. Initial reports are that after Dorado shot Cruz, he then turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger. He later died at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital while undergoing treatment. From the very beginning, Dorado’s family have contended he did not kill himself but was murdered; shot in the back of the head by someone else who may have witnessed the first killing. While a post-mortem has not revealed if a third party was involved, the examination did show that the shotgun used to kill Cruz is not the same weapon that caused Dorado’s head wound. That gun has been identified as a thirty-eight. Police Commissioner Gerald Westby says based on the examination results, the case is by no means closed and they are taking a second look at the incident. Westby says there are several theories that they are exploring and they cannot say at this time whether a third party is involved. Police are now interviewing all persons who were at the scene. Anyone with information that might assist the police is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 0-800-922-TIPS.
