Belizeans Prepare to Lay Parandero to Rest

Renowned parandero, Paul Nabor, passed away at his home in Punta Gorda on October twenty-second after suffering a massive stroke, his third. Tonight the nation prepares to lay this legendary musical icon to rest in his home town, and befitting his importance to the nation, it is being done in grand style. The Government of Belize has given the importance in death which they never gave to the parandero in life, and he will have an official funeral. Today his body was carried from the morgue to his home in Punta Gorda, where it will lie for one final night. A concert in tribute to Nabor will be held tonight, and promises to be an extraordinarily beautiful and historic send-off to the musical giant.

The church service will be held at St. Peter Claver Church at eleven tomorrow, after which the legendary parandero will be laid to rest. We’ll bring you the images from the weekend in Monday’s newscast.
