20 Years for Convicted Child Predator
Forty-five year old Brian Charlesworth has been convicted twice before for sexually abusing minors. Today, the pedophile secured jail time for another conviction of a sexual nature, which makes it the third conviction in thirteen years. On Wednesday, he was found guilty of carnal knowledge of a juvenile who was six years at the time she was abused between January and October 2011. This morning when Charlesworth was brought back to court for sentencing, he was in a foul mood. Before he got inside the court, he attacked the court reporter and while inside the courtroom he was disrespectful of the judiciary. And just before mitigation, Charlesworth told the court that if he was to be sentenced; he wanted the judge to give him back the time he had served. Following the outburst, Justice Troadio Gonzalez sentenced him to twenty years behind bars, which are to run consecutively with a jail term conviction he is presently serving for another charge of sexual abuse. But Charlesworth, upset with the verdict, blurted out that he thought that the justice system was fair and that he would have escaped conviction. Judge Gonzalez cautioned him saying he cannot be disrespectful of the juror’s decision. Charlesworth snapped saying he did not get justice. Judge Gonzalez noted that the jury had found him guilty of carnal knowledge and naturally this type of offense is very dangerous and serious for which there is a minimum of twelve years and up to life imprisonment to be imposed. He also added that in Charlesworth’s case, he has a previous conviction for carnal knowledge and another for an indecent assault upon a minor. Charlestown records reveal that in 2001, Charlesworth was convicted for the first time of carnal knowledge and he was sentenced to twelve years imprisonment, the minimum jail term. In October 2009, he was granted parole for the carnal knowledge conviction having only served eight years and seven months. But within two years of his freedom he struck gain. In November 2011, he was re-arrested and charged again for carnal knowledge, which had occurred between January and October 2011. That charge landed him back behind bars to continue serving his remaining jail term. While on remand, Charlesworth picked up a second conviction for indecent assault of a minor. That second conviction occurred on February 2013 and for that he was sentenced to three years. All in all, the pedophile has been convicted three times for sexual offenses; his conviction today earned him twenty years behind bars.
So, why is he even still on the street and was given a reprieve to be out? It’s obvious there’s no reforming him. He should have been given life.
