Musical stars visit schools
The students of two Belize City primary schools, Trinity Methodist and St. Joseph’s, got a special treat today as musical superstar Leela Vernon performed at their campuses. The shows were part of a new joint initiative between the National Institute of Culture and History and the Ministry of Education called “Mobile Legends” which will be bringing musical favourites like Leela Vernon, Mr. Wilfred Peters, and Paul Nabor to school children all over Belize during this academic year. The aim is to bring these positive role models into close contact with youngsters who have seen them on television, but perhaps never imagined they would get to dance and sing right alongside them. News Five was at St. Joseph’s School this afternoon where the inimitable Leela Vernon was giving students a healthy heaping of Kriol Kulcha.

Schools which would like to be a part of “Mobile Legends” are asked to contact the Chief Education Officer’s office.
