Police Officer Charged After Knocking Down Pedestrian

A police officer was served with a notice of intended prosecution after he knocked down a man while driving a Government vehicle within city limits. Thirty-four year old police constable Wilbert Chan from Cristo Rey Village, Corozal District, hit Daniel Grey, on October, twenty-fourth, 2014, while driving a Toyota Hilux at the intersection of Cleghorn and Mapp Streets. Chan appeared in court this morning before Magistrate Dale Cayetano and was read three traffic offenses for Driving a Motor Vehicle without Due Care and Attention, Failing to Confirm to a Traffic Sign and Negligent Harm upon Grey.  Chan pleaded not guilty to all charges and was offered bail in the sum of three thousand dollars. He is due back in court on January twelfth, 2015.
