Yhony Rosado’s Home Targeted by Armed Robbers in Daring Home Invasion

Yhony Rosado is a very outspoken tour operator; he has big stakes in the tourism industry as the proprietor of Cavetubing.com. As recent as last Friday, Rosado made bold and compelling statements about decisions taken within the industry that hurt the pockets of tour operators. Fast forward to Wednesday, Rosado was tending to his business when armed men entered his house and held-up his mother-in-law at gunpoint. The ordeal lasted for about half an hour and when they fled they took an undisclosed amount of cash and Rosado’s handgun. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports.

A daring mid-morning aggravated burglary at the residence of tour operator Yhony Rosado flew under the radar on Wednesday when the armed home invasion failed to make it to the police blotter.  Sometime after ten o’clock, a pair of masked intruders entered the lower flat of the two storey abode by prying open a plycem wall outside the building.  Inside, caring for his newborn was his physically challenged mother-in-law.

“On Wednesday morning about 10:30, I was in the bedroom and I was tending to the baby, to that young baby and I saw two men coming in.  The first one is the one that had something white in his hand like wah rag and he placed it on my mouth and I fight it off.  I was laying down di watch di baby but looking to the wall.  So when I wipe it off he said let me deliver what I have, my chains.  Well ih pop it off, ih pop them off, okay.  So ih tell mi to please get up, so I tell ahn I wahn get up, no problem.  I wahn get up.  So ih seh where is the boss.  I tell ahn di boss deh dah work.”

Rosado, proprietor of Cavetubing.com, was busy running errands within the Fort Street Tourism Village to ensure that operations on that day ran smoothly.  Little did he know that his family was under siege by armed invaders.

“I had some guests with me so I stopped with the guests in front of my house because I got a phone call that something terrible had happened.  Home invasions is one of the worst things you could ever think because you are in your home locked up.  In your mind, your soul, yourself you are safe, you’re not on the street, you’re not out there.  You’re in your house, that’s the safest place to be in your house.  So, but the perpetrators they were very smart doing what they do.”

The duo wasted little time locating a licensed firearm which Rosado kept concealed inside the residence.  They threatened the terrified babysitter repeatedly.

“When dehn walk een da because dehn done sight the gun.  Yoh know, dehn done sight the gun first so dehn get een deh.  But before the next one got me gun down and ih tell me get out because he even tell me [to] walk.  I tell ahn I cannot walk, I sick, I cannot walk on my own.  So dehn decide fu tie me pan di bed, right deh I siddown, whole ah dis while di baby di sleep.  I di plea, I tell dehn please noh do me nothing  because dehn seh dehn wahn blow mi brains right.  Ah seh please noh do me nothing because ah deh ya di tend to this baby.”

The men kept asking for Yhony and the whereabouts of his money, presumably the proceeds of his daily tour operation.

“Dehn start to turn ova things and dehn turn ova things.  Dehn neva find money yet but dehn turn ova things, turn ova things and when ah sih money fly.  Dehn ih sehe, “Yo sih! You know where’s the other money right!”  Ih seh, “What time your boss di come?”  Ah tell ahn, “I don’t know, I noh have no idea more or less what time ih wahn come.  So ih seh, ih tell di other guy mek ih watch through di door fi sih if, because ah tell ahn somebody di come deh.  I hyah wah bus stop, ah seh somebody is coming there.  And ih tell di guy, well if da di boss shot him.”

The entire ordeal lasted for about half an hour before the thieves made good their escape with an undisclosed sum of money and the handgun.  The incident, says Rosado, coincides with his frankness on a recent issue affecting the tourism industry in which he criticized the government.  There is nothing concrete, however, to suggest that the home invasion was the work of someone in authority.

“Since the press conference, that was last week Friday, and Friday night, between Friday night and Saturday [morning] there were about eight shots in front of my house, you know, and like every human you get scared.  Middle of the night you’re sleeping you hear eight shots in front of your home, well I thought someone shot up one of my vans for whatever reason.  I didn’t wanted to get excited and get out because you’d put yourself in more danger and, as you see, I have a brand new baby weh one of the reasons for living is for your kids.  So I just stooped down and I told my wife just stay down don’t do anything until the morning.  And in the morning I get up very early and I checked the vehicles and everything was alright.  So someone just blow off about eight shots in front of my house. We just had a hot press conference Friday.  We had a meeting with the officials in charge, the government in charge, with the department in charge of our livelihood being jeopardized by some forty-eight inches and we, myself and couple others walked out of the meeting because we realized that there weren’t really answers that night.  And, like I said, I challenged our government because the government is the one that promised us a better life, promised us a very safe city and at safe home.”

An official report has since been filed at the Raccoon Street Police Station and, despite an ongoing investigation, no one has been arrested.  By all accounts it is believed that the intruders are well acquainted with the inside of Rosado’s home.
