Third Eye Launched at Image Factory

A new art exhibition is being launched at the Image Factory Art Foundation. Entitled the Third Eye, the exhibit is featuring three female artists: eLise Arelie Craig, her daughter, Alyssa and Briheda Haylock. The show, an experimental collaboration, will see the three artists challenge each other to create works based on ideas, concepts and multi-media challenges relying on their own form of art. A total of forty pieces will be on display at the art studio and today News Five caught up with Haylock, as the final touches were being added to the creative space.

“We came together and we challenged each other with different concepts, ideas and subjects. The different things are TV head, hair, topography, photo interpretation, mannequin, music…how we feel about music. So Third Eye, what it does is it shows you that we all see things differently. Just because someone says this it doesn’t mean that that’s the only interpretation. We all interpret things differently and that’s what you see at Third Eye. With Alyssa I notice…we both love books and with her, she is really into it more than I right now and she loves to learn things. And that is how she creates her art as well. She sits down and she learns other things on her own. Like she wants to learn water color and she goes and Google water color and sees how you are supposed to do it. What I do is that I challenge her more with things.   The way she thinks and the things that drive her creativity which is books. She is like always reading. As you can see, one of her piece is all quotes and there are things that she likes and you see her personality; she is very witty, she is very serious and that’s what I love about her work. What I like about her mom’s work, she incorporates this strength, this confidence and you can see that she loves her daughter because one of them does highlight her daughter in there. For me I really do hate the technological world especially the cyber world like Facebook and stuff. For me, we are disconnected as people and we don’t know how to interact when we are with people anymore. We are just clicking and scrolling; that’s how we talk to each other now and for me I really don’t understand it and I don’t like it at all. It’s a very fun show…you are seeing different ideas, different styles and you know bringing ideas together in a very open mind setting is always something unique to see. It is not every day you see something like this or every day artists can sit down together and say hey, let’s do this together.”

The Third Eye Exhibit launches on Friday and will be open to the public for two weeks.
