Police arrest five for cemetery robberies

Viewers may recall a story we ran last month in which residents of the neighbourhood near Lord Ridge Cemetery complained of a long running crime wave. Tonight those residents may sleep a bit sounder as police report the arrest of five men they believe are responsible for much of the trouble. Those arrested are thirty year old Hubert Velasquez, twenty-seven year old Simon Montes, twenty-three year Wendell Vernon, twenty-two year old Ernest Hinds, and twenty-six year old Delbert Hinds, all of whom reside on Antelope Street. They have each been charged with three counts of robbery. Police are preparing additional charges and ask any crime victims from the area who can be of assistance in identifying their assailants to please come forward.
