Fatal Road Traffic Accident on George Price Highway Claims Life of Two Men

A fatal road traffic accident on the George Price Highway this afternoon has left two Ministry of Works’ employees dead and an employee of Madisco reportedly in critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The accident occurred just before three p.m. near mile forty-six and involved a small white car driven at the time by thirty-five year- old Ismael Hoare and a delivery truck driven by Lito Serano. According to police, Hoare was traveling towards Belmopan along with his coworker, twenty-year-old Orlando Pascascio Junior, a resident of Camalote village. Tire marks on the scene indicate that the driver of the car presumably lost control and was hit on the right side by the Madisco delivery truck heading in the opposite direction. Both Hoare and Pascascio Junior suffered massive head and upper body injuries from the impact and perished on the spot. Serano, however, was trapped inside behind the steering wheel of the truck. Police and fire officials soon after arrived on the scene along with paramedics. Serano along with the two deceased were soon extricated from the mangled wreck and while Pascascio Junior and Hoare were taken to the morgue, Serano was rushed to the Western Regional Hospital before being transported to the K.H.M.H.  Initial reports are that both of Serano’s legs were badly broken and he remains hospitalized.

So sad. We saw the accident scene and it looks like the white pavement on that part of the high way has claimed yet more live! How many more before they finally upgrade that stretch of road?

They say GOB is improving the road for safety purposes – repaving some areas and some side rails. However, many months later and still no lane markings on the road and no reflectors. How can this be improving safety!?? Again probably someone in GOB falling down on the job – at the cost of lives!
