Fundraising Effort for Dara’s Feeding Program

Dara Robinson is known for his humanitarianism, specifically his feeding program to help underprivileged youths and families in poverty stricken areas across the city. For the second consecutive year, Robinson is teaming up with the owner of Mister Ham’s Juice Bar, Jennine Hamilton, to raise funds for his annual Christmas Hamper Program for needy families. News Five today, spoke with Hamilton who talked to us about how Belizeans can visit the shop and take part as a way to give back.

Jennine Hamilton, Owner, Mr. Ham’s Juice Bar

“What we are trying to do is we are fundraising so that we can come up with funds to provide. We are shooting for a hundred families this Christmas. We are trying to provide them with food hampers for Christmas.”

“What would that entail; the target that you guys are trying to reach?”

“The target amount? It would cost us about three thousand dollars if we should do the hundred. The last time, we did a smoothie promotion; however, this time we have it in two parts. We are not trying to put the burden on one thing. We have a popularity contest going on. We have some contestants who are convincing their families, their friends, their coworkers and whoever to come and support them at Mister Ham’s. Come out to the park, purchase a product and give their name as a reference and they get a point. Who wins the most, gets a big prize. Apart from that, to assist with the funds, this Saturday at the B.T.L. Park, there is the Christmas Park Fest going on and we are expecting that an amount of people will be out here and we are doing a strawberry smoothie promotion. You come, you purchase a smoothie and the funds are going towards the Christmas hampers.  We did get some partners. San Cas has partnered with us; they are sponsoring the milk for the smoothies. We have Courts Belize who is providing us with some blenders to make the smoothies, to make it easier and more accessible to get it out. And then you have the Zeta Ice Factory who is helping us with the ice and so forth. And so that makes it now that most of what is earned from those nights can be placed into the (hampers) yeah.”

So be sure to head on over to Mister Ham’s at the B.T.L. Park on Saturday and purchase any of their juices or smoothies to make your contributions to help a family for the Christmas Holidays.
